La Mercè 2011, del 22 al 25 de setembre. 4 dies de festa major a Barcelona amb bastoners, trabucaires, gegants, el bestiari barceloní, dracs, colles sardanistes, castellers, etc.

A Catalan tradition seen during La Mercè is the building up of Castells (human towers), in which rings of men and women stand on each shoulders in towers up to ten levels high, supported by a huge crow below, until a boy or girl, the lightest of the team, climbs up to top the structure off. It is regarded as a demonstration of collective solidarity, and can be very thrilling as you wait to see whether the tower will stand long enough to be completed. Originally from the area around Tarragona, this has now become strongly rooted in Barcelona with six human towers teams which are utterly active. Castellers de Barcelona, this is the team which bears the name of the city. The other five teams belong to Barcelona districts.
