The town of Balsareny is located at 80 km north of Barcelona. It has a population of about 4.000 inhabitants and its economy is based on above all, on the potassium salts mines, textile industry, and raising cattle. Its privileged location within the road system, right beside the E-9 European route, allows an easy access. In Balsareny you can enjoy among others things, the traditional dances the faixa and the dance of the bastoners. Nevertheless, the festival par excellence is La Festa dels Traginers (Muleteers’ day) well-known all over Catalonia, when a large crow gather, well disposed to participate in a different festival, when you relieve a past both remote and beloved. La Festa dels Traginers is always held on the Sunday before Carnival date, this year on February 27th. The town offers the visitor some interesting places like the castle (14th century) which is open to visitors at weekends; the Romanesque church by it is a sight of great interest as well.
